5 Books 1 Theme - Homelessness

I'm starting this year's (and this decade's) 5 Books 1 Theme collection posts with a quintet of book around the theme of homelessness. There's a Scandinavian crime thriller, a Canadian memoir and English dystopian science fiction amongst this selection so hopefully there'll be at least one title to appeal to everyone?

Have you read any of these five books? If so, what did you think? Can you recommend any other good books that incorporate the issue of homelessness into their storylines?

  1. I must admit that things like homelessness, racism, bigotry etc are not what I want to read fiction about. I like to escape into mindless horror and apocalypses to get away from the depressing things I see on the news!

    1. I can understand that! My reading is frequently for escapism too :-)

  2. Not really a subject I want to read about since there's such a big homeless problem here where I live but I can understand why someone would.

  4. Interesting subject to tackle. And I never realize what's out there until posts like this since I tend to read more YA/romance.

Homelessness is a huge problem where I live and there are constant battles about what to do.

    1. Angelica Stone might be a good choice for you as it's a YA type read with pretty deep issues too.
