Cover Characteristics - Hands

I've long been a fan of the beautiful Cover Characteristics posts that Kristen curates over at Metaphors And Moonlight so I thought I might try putting together a similar post myself. The idea is to choose book covers which are linked in some way (featuring an object in common, perhaps, or a similar title font) and to then display them artfully. Sounds easy, turns out not to be! But it is fun to look back through my old reviews.

The striking cover art for one of my recent reads, Humiliation by Paulina Flores, inspired this month's collection. All these book covers feature:

Hands

  1. There are a lot of book covers with hands on them.

  2. I had just been thinking about doing a post like this since I saw a few covers with the same theme.

This is an interesting one - I never noticed how many hands there were on covers. Each hand gives out a totally different feeling as to what to expect from the book.

  3. I do notice books with hands on the covers. I think that a person's hands tells a lot about them so these covers usually appeal to me.

  4. How interesting! My fave is Painting Kuwait Violet.

I just watched a movie about a serial killer who collects the hands of the women he murders!

  5. Have you ever noticed that some books have the SAME cover only slightly altered? Maybe a tree is a different color, or something is flipped? I think it's crazy whenever I stumble across something like that, but this is pretty cool!

    1. I always wonder if those covers are designed by one person who just does little Spot The Difference changes so they're not all identical!

  6. Usually if there are hands on my book covers, they are zombie hands, clawing at the reader!
