5 Books 1 Theme - Ghost Stories - #FreeBooks

For October's 5 Books, 1 Theme post I've collated a quintet of my reviewed ghost stories. I was originally going to post this last month, but I think now is a far more suitable time! The five books include brand new novels, a short story and two novellas. All great reads for Halloween and two of them are free to download!

(Click the cover images to visit each book's Literary Flits review.)

Have you read any of these five books? If so, what did you think?

Which other stories can you recommend for spooky Halloween reading?

  1. I did enjoy “The Greatcoat” and remain a fan of Helen Dumore’s books. Sadly I haven’t read your other suggestions. My own favourite ghost stories are probably Susan Hill’s The Woman in Black and Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw.

    1. I saw a fantastic theatre production of The Woman In Black, but I'm yet to actually read the book!

  3. Hard pass! Haha! I avoid spooky, scary books like the plague. I'm a chicken and don't do well with scary stories. Lovely idea for a post though -- very thoughtful!

    1. I don't read much in the way of horror ghost stories either. A Christmas Carol is about my ideal scariness level :-)

  4. I must look into these books. I'm only familiar with Betwixt - though I haven't read it. Thanks for the recommendations!

  5. I read Ghosts of Tsavo by Vered Ehsani in 2017 and enjoyed it a lot. Here's ink to my review: https://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2017/04/ghosts-of-tsavo-by-vered-ehsani.html
