Book Blogger Hop - Do you read books over 400 pages?

This week's question (31st May - 6th June 2019) is:
Do you read books over 400 pages? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)

Most of the books I read are around 250-300 pages in length I think, though sometimes that is difficult to judge with ebooks. I do prefer shorter books. 400 pages wouldn't put me off reading something I like the look of, but at 500+ I would be unlikely to even glance at a book's synopsis. I'm scared of getting bogged down in too many pages!
That said, I do get longer books via NetGalley because I have other criteria for requests there and don't look up the number of pages. I don't know how big any NetGalleys will be until they arrive. Sometimes it's a bit of a shock!

I had a quick look at Goodreads which shows me the longest book I've read each year. These are the past three year's 'winners' (and you can click on the each cover if you'd like to read my review)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer's permission, Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013.

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

  1. I do read books over 400 pages but I have to admit I am pleased when I see they are shorter! Most books are the right length for the story, but occasionally I read something and think they could have cut a few scenes! x

  2. I don't read many books over 400 pages unless I really like the sound of it. It has to grab me very quickly or I lose interest in it. Gameland and A Dance With Dragons were long books that I read this year.

  3. I do but mostly when their in series that I'm enjoying.

  4. I WILL read books that are 400 or more pages, but they tend to be part of a series I'm already reading. I do get daunted by long books just because they take longer to read and I don't have time! LOL
