Top Five Etsy Finds - Torquay

By the time this post publishes itself we will have been
Recycled Torquay beach sign from used2beeShop
around Torbay and Torquay in particular for about three weeks so I thought this would be a great opportunity to see what arts and crafts Etsy sellers have created around a Torquay theme. It turns out that there is a Torquay in Australia too, but I have only included items relating to the British Devon town!

First up, pictured top right, is a gaily coloured Recycled Wooden Beach Sign proudly displaying the town name. Made by Steve and Joanne Clark from their used2beeShop right here in Torquay, the signs are available in a choice of four colours and are made with recycled pallet wood and pieces of a haynet. You can also choose to have a different town name if you would prefer.

Each sign is for sale at £4.95 plus shipping.

Beautiful Day Campervan by
MadebyMessymuppet
MadebyMessymuppet is a fabulous shop name! This is where Rachel Wickett of Kingsbridge sells her crocheted and upcycled wares including beanie hats, flower hair clips and mixed media pictures. I love this Beautiful Day Campervan picture. Although it's not a caravan, it's close enough to our lifestyle! The campervan itself is made from part of a Torquay A-Z map and it has button headlights, indicators and badge. Crocheted daisy flowers and white clouds, and stamped butterflies complete the beautiful day and more map strips are used to give detail to the green field.

The picture is for sale at £40 plus shipping.

Silvery Sunset by
AnneRaduUKartistist

Exeter-based artist Anne Radu has been producing work since the 1970s beginning with psychedelic painting. She is a keen traveller and has recently begun to experiment with photography, selling a selection of high quality prints through her shop, AnneRaduUKartist. The colours in this Silvery Sunset scene of Torquay Harbour particularly appealed to me. We have seen some lovely sunsets from our campsite on the hill, but, obviously, none with such gorgeous water reflections too.

The gloss print is for sale at £10 plus shipping.

Tweet pebble picture by SeaglassGifts
Another mixed media picture for my fourth choice and this pebble art picture entitled Tweet is just perfect for a Twitter fan such as myself. Created by Torquay-based artist Naomi of SeaglassGifts, it is a great whimsical use of found and recycled materials. The little birds are rounded grey pebbles, a shell becomes a snail and the green of the trees is provided by glass fragments worn smooth (I hope!) by the sea. Naomi has other pebble pictures and pebble jewellery in her shop too.

The picture is for sale at £34.95 plus shipping.

Torquay map bookmark
by MadewithMaps

Finally, a clever little gift idea for a bookworm - a Map Fragment Bookmark created by Laura Barker at MadewithMaps. Preserved under a clear glass cabochon, the Torquay wording has been rescued and upcycled from a vintage map of the area. The cabochon is then attached to a slim metal bookmark paperclip-style grip which is nicely presented on brown card. Laura has bookmarks for other towns too and also makes similarly mappy brooches, necklace pendants and keyrings.

The bookmark is for sale at £3.99 plus shipping.

If you know of other Torquay art and artists, especially if they are on Etsy, why not pop a link in the Comments below? And if you would like to buy anything I have featured here, that would be great! All links go directly to the item page on Etsy and are affiliate links (meaning if you purchase something there I get a small percentage of the price).
